As part of the Lopez Museum's effort at sharing its collection with the public,
a monthly luncheon benefit features guest speakers who have been invited to talk
on their respective fields of expertise. The topics dwell on
aspects of Asian and Philippine art, culture and letters. Each luncheon benefit
to be held at the second floor of Rockwell Club's Fernando restaurant gives
every guest the opportunity to participate in a lively discussion of subjects
among experts and participants who share the same interests.

6 July 2002 Lecture: On Obsessions: The Psychology of Collecting by Dr. Marissa de Guzman, PhD
Psychiatrist Dr de Guzman shares the intricate workings of both the psychological and cultural reasons for our collecting behavior.

Artists Yasmin Sison and Lena Cobangbang speak on the creation of Alice and Lucinda, and their work as artists working in new media and performance.

25 May 2002: Why We Do What We Do: Artists Talk by Alfredo Juan Aquilizan, Ikoy Ricio and Raymond Red
The three artists speak about their specific practices as collectors and as artists who use collecting as their practice.

27 February 2002: THE FILIPINO WOMAN WRITER: WHY SHE WRITES WHAT SHE WRITES IN ENGLISH by DR EDNA MANLAPAZ
Why do some Filipina writers choose to write in English? Dr Edna Manlapaz examines why and how English became a medium for Philippine Literature, and focuses on its impact on Filipino women. Dr Manlapaz will provide commentary on selected works by poets such as Angela Manalang Gloria, Tita Lacambra Ayala, and Benilda Santos, to mention a few. A respected literature scholar and professor, Dr Manlapaz is currently Executive Director of the Ateneo Library of Women's Writings (ALIWW). Songs of Ourselves: Writings by Filipino Women in English; Our Literary Matriarchs, 1925-1953: Angela Manalang Gloria, Paz M Latorena, Loreto Paras-Sulit and Paz Marquez Benitez; Austregelina: A Story of Lina Espina Moore's Life and Selected Works are among the many books Dr Manlapaz has edited and authored.
Each luncheon lecture priced at P1,375 per person begins at 12 noon. The lecture entitles the guest to a full lunch with one beverage of choice and a chance to win a raffle prize courtesy of the Lopez Museum.

Artist Pandy Aviado discusses the challenges and rewards of printmaking, as he introduces the different methods of making prints and processes that each involves.
16 May, Wednesday PHILIPPINE ART NOUVEAU IN ARCHITECTURE AND DECORATIVE ARTS
Art lecturer and bon vivant Dez Bautista grew up in his parent's ancestral house in Malolos, a stunning example of Philippine Art Nouveau that still stands to this day. Mr. Bautista's talk will focus on the artists who popularized the Art Nouveau style in the Philippines and discuss how creatively and elegantly they blended Filipino motifs into a European style, and made it distinctly their own.

Ceramic expert Cynthia Ongpin Valdes talks about antique ceramics found in the Philippines and delves into aspects pf collecting said objects, whether by institutions or private individuals.
21 March, Wednesday THE FIRST FILIPINO PENSIONADOS
Colonial art expert and historian Dr. Luciano Santiago talks about the life and times of the first Filipino pensionado artists who in furthering their art studies abroad, sought to achieve recognition for Filipino talent.
8 February, Thursday PHILIPPINE ARTIFACTS IN FOREIGN COLLECTIONS
Marian Pastor-Roces provides a rare glimpse at Philippine artifacts found in institutions and collections abroad.
30 January, Tuesday ALL ABOUT RARE FILIPINIANA BOOKS
Historian and iconoclast Ambeth Ocampo talks about the significance of rare Filipiniana books highlighting the important books found in the museum's collection. Mr. Ocampo will also share trivia, historical gossip and tidbits regarding those with a passion or penchant for collecting Filipiniana.
